2022 Grammy’s Nominations

The 1st Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by Mort Sahl (a comedian, actor, and social satirist) were held on May 4, 1959. First held in Los Angeles, the award ceremony handed out 28 awards to honor the musical accomplishments of the past year (1958). The name Grammy awards came from “Gramophone Awards,” and were first presented NARAs. This year, the 62th annual Grammy Awards is to be held on January 31, 2022, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. This year’s host for the award ceremony will be South African comedian, television host, and political commentator, Trevor Noah. 

There are a total of 86 categories listed for the award show. This year’s Album of the Year Nominees are Jon Batiste’s WE ARE, Tony Bennett’s and Lady Gaga’s Love for Sale, Justin Bieber’s Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe), Doja Cat’s Planet Her (Deluxe), Billie Eilish’s Happier than Ever, H.E.R.’s Back of My Mind, Lil Nas X’s Montero, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour, Taylor Swift’s Evermore, and Kanye West’s Donda

This year’s Song of the Year nominees are Ed Sheeran’s Bad Habits, Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile’s A Beautiful Noise, Olivia Rodrigo’s Drivers License, H.E.R.’s Fight For You, Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever, Doja Cat ft. SZA’s Kiss me More, Silk Sonic’s Leave the Door Open, Lil Nas X’s Montero, Justin Bieber ft. Daniel Caesar and Giveon’s Peaches, and Brandi Carlile’s Right on Time. Any music released from September 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021 are eligible for the upcoming ceremony.
