LIST | Celebrate the Barbie Movie premiere in the DMV this weekend with these events | WJLA

This summer has been a roller coaster of different movies, each more entertaining than the last! We started off with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which was an extraordinary galacticexperience. The Guardians come back once again to protect the Galaxy from the HighEvolutionary, opening up Rocket’s traumatic past and taking the audience through an emotional,heart-warming, hilarious, and action-packed journey.

With colorful aesthetics and an amazing storyline comes Spider-Man: Across the SpiderVerse – another great sci-fi picture. It is evident this movie required a great deal of effort for the different animation skills it presents to viewers. The concept of the multiverse creates awide-scale setting, one in which audiences can expect the unexpected to happen. It’s a wonderful movie to watch with the whole family!

Even at age 61, Tom Cruise still manages to pull off one of cinema’s greatest stunts. He recently amazed audiences across the world with a brand new mission in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1. This captivating screenplay involved the Entity and plenty more spy-themed scenes. The actors’ portrayals of their characters were amazing and the cinematography was absolutely wonderful (considering the difficulty of capturing extreme stunts with perfect clarity).

Currently in theaters, we have the two most anticipated films all year: Barbie and Oppenheimer. Barbie is an exciting movie with colorful sets and great music created by various artists. Barbie deals with the task being relegated into the real world and discovers what it is like being a human. The movie’s message involving feminism and the importance of equality among. males and females is quite empowering to all who watch it. Barbie was greatly enjoyed by everyone throughout the world and was completely sublime. Oppenheimer, rated R, it is worth mentioning as it is one of cinema’s most historical and breathtaking experiences. The mastermind that is Christopher Nolan has written one of the greatest adapted screenplays ever, playing on the biggest screen ever (70mm IMAX) and starring Cilian Murphy. All the actors in the film used everything they had to bring their role to life and show the significance of the creation of the atomic bomb.

There’s certainly plenty of other movies that premiered this summer (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Elemental, Indiana Jones, Fast X), but due to the current SAG-AFTRA strike, we are currently not seeing many new movies being produced and seen on the big screen. Keep an eye out for SAG-AFTRA updates to see when we may see new movies land in theaters.

In the meantime, enjoy watching these highly recommended movies and make sure to enjoy a bigbucket of popcorn!
