Upper Merion’s Crushing Football Performance at Upper Perk

As the Football and Fall Sports Season winds down, we look back on the highlights of the season. On September 30th, your Upper Merion Viking Football Team made the lengthy road trip up to Upper Perkiomen for a Football Match. The Vikings entered as the favorites to win the game, but what followed could not be predicted by anyone in attendance. The Vikings started out the game with a touchdown, nothing special, just a solid score to give them a 7-0 lead. Little did anyone know, that score in the endzone was the beginning of a dominating streak for the Vikings. By the end of the 1st half, the Vikings led 42-0! An absolutely stellar performance by the Vikings’ offense, and defense, is what led them to the big lead. The Vikings’ largest margin of lead was found in the 3rd quarter, where they led 49-0! The offense had an explosive rushing performance, as the run game was led by Yusuf Riley and Justin Besz, both of whom scored multiple Touchdowns for their team. On the defensive side of the ball, the Tribe struggled to get any play going. They suffered consistent failure in moving the chains, and in the first half, gained more yardage from Viking Defensive Penalties than they did off of their own plays. Ouch! When the night was said and done, the running clock in the second half of the game wrapped things up quickly. To save Upper Perk from complete embarrassment, they managed two touchdowns in the second half of the game against the Vikings’ backup players. The final score tallied at 49-14, in what was an absolute thriller of a game for Viking Fans, and a great confidence booster for the team as they potentially approach the playoffs!
