Kim and Ye: Yay or Nay?

For the past 20 years, we have been following the most iconic, recognizable couple who will truly go down in the books. Nobody saw it coming, nor did we see it ending. We watched two people fall in love and grow apart. Let us deep dive into the long and passionate relationship of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

A bit of backstory about these two lovers-turned-divorcees: Kanye (Ye) West is a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, who married and divorced Kim Kardashian, a socialite who received her fame from a popular TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The show stars Kim and her 4 sisters, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie, and Kendall, in the reality TV show of a lifetime. Kim and Kanye had a long, almost 8-year marriage that came to a bitter end recently this year. Their differences tore them apart, but there is much more under the surface. 

Kim and Kanye have a very long timeline. We’ve watched them grow, get married, and even start a family.  Kim was married twice before – once to Damon Thomas in 2000 and a second time to Kris Humphries in 2011. After her second divorce, Kim revealed the events with Kris helped her realize her feelings for Kanye. Kim and Kanye met in the early 2000s but did not publicize their relationship until 2012. Kim announced the amazing news of her and Kanye’s pregnancy with their first child in December 2012. They had their first child, North West, on June 15, 2013. Kim and Kanye finally got married on May 24, 2014. Shortly after this, Kim wanted to expand her family and they welcomed three more children into the world: Saint West (born on December 5, 2015), Chicago West (born on January 15, 2018), and their youngest child, Psalm West (born on May 9, 2019). 

The feud between Kim and Kanye recently came to light when the two reportedly had been living separate lives for several months. This was after they had marital issues in 2016. Kim finally filed for divorce after almost 7 years of marriage, and the divorce was a very long and strenuous process. It was finalized two years after it was first filed on March 2, 2022. This was shortly after turmoil sparked between Kim, Kanye, and Pete Davidson.

Kim and Pete started dating in October 2021, shortly after she made her SNL hosting debut. Working with him sparked an unexpected but thrilling relationship between the two. Kanye then expressed his anger towards Kim’s mothering abilities on social media. He followed these with a series of angry posts about Pete and Kim’s relationship. While Kim was in a happy relationship with Pete, Kanye was with Julia Fox, an actress from Milan, Italy. Kanye and Julia dated for a whopping 6 weeks until Kanye broke up with Julia on Valentine’s Day – apparently it wasn’t the day of love for Kanye and Julia !! Later that day, Kanye sent Kim a truck of roses, continuously trying to win her back. Did this work? Absolutely not! Kanye not only made this huge act of love towards Kim, but a huge act of hate toward Pete in his and The Game’s most recent music video, “Eazy.”

What’s next in this thrilling relationship adventure?! We will have to wait and watch where Pete and Kim will progress to after these series of events. Will they make it through Kanye’s wrath? Will Kim and Kanye find their way back to each other? Or is this really the end of Kimye for good?
