Always glanced over, overlooked, over seen
Longing for an empty shoulder in which they could lean
They stop so they can tie their shoe, in hopes their friends will wait
But of course deep down they know that is never the case
At home the same where they’re the sibling always second best
With D’s and F’s while their sister aces every test
They sleep at night wondering what the coming time will bring
Waiting for the day when they hear that fat lady sing
If this was a race, they would surely come in second
Not quite last so no one ever thinks they need to check in
Soon they’ll be appreciated for the greatness that they are
Until then everyone perceives them just as subpar
