The Last Fall

The seasons change like every year
But this one is different, the end I fear
The last fall at home
Before I stray
To some strange place that is far away

Paling leaves blow in familiar circles
Like clockwork, ebbing breezes and rising chills
Always thought to be eternal
And each year mother earth fulfills

Her promise
But this year is different
It is the last
The final color change before a new frontier
A place where fall might not even appear

17 of the same, but the next four are sure to be something new
A different grain entirely
Though strange, maybe something good is anew
