Upper Merion Girls Swimming and Diving Season Review

As the winter season comes to a close, it’s time to review this season’s success. The Vikings swimmers closed the season with a record of ⅗, winning meets against Boyertown, Pope John Paul, and Pottsgrove. The Vikings lost to tough competitors Phoenixville and Springford.

The Vikings sent 2 female athletes to districts this year, Ashley Evitts competed in the District 1 AAA diving championships, and Lindsay Yuen competed in the District 1 AAA swimming championships. Ashley Evitts placed 9th in District 1 with a score of 350.90. Lindsay Yuen placed 6th in the 100 breaststroke at districts with a time of, 1:05.84.

While the Vikings only had 2 athletes participate at districts this season, the 200 medley relay qualified for the meet but was ranked 16th (only top 12 attend due to covid). With a shorted, very modified season, the Vikings overall are happy with this season’s results.

Now the swimmers anxiously await state placements to see if they will be continuing to the PIAA State Championships. A meet that was cut short last season due to lockdown in Bucknell. Now that the regular season is over for most of the swimmers, they are beginning training for their perspective spring sports and next season!
